Generally, in&nbsp;modern treatment chains of satellite and aerial data,&nbsp;denoising techniques are applied to atmospherically corrected&nbsp;images prior to&nbsp;further analysis (e.g., classification). However, since the noise contaminates the measured radiance at&nbsp;the sensor, it can influence the&nbsp;atmospheric correction in itself&nbsp;and consequently the remaining of the processing chain. In&nbsp;this paper, we compare the performance of&nbsp;a denoising technique, when applied before or after atmospheric correction.&nbsp; Our observations challenge the current de facto paradigm&nbsp;of&nbsp;denoising in a processing chain of spaceborne and airborne&nbsp;remotely sensed images.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p></description> </descriptions> </resource>
