CRC 1415 (SFB 1415) - Chemistry of Synthetic Two-Dimensional Materials

The CRC 1415 aims to establish the next generation of synthetic 2D layered organic/inorganic/organometallic materials with high structural definition at the atomic or molecular level. The path towards this goal is the launched research initiative among synthetic chemists, physical chemists, analytical chemists, material scientists and theoreticians.

  • Adress the potential of the chemistry approaches for synthetic 2D materials (2DMs), in order to achieve structurally well-definded 2DMs; controlled chemical funtionalization, multfunctional hybrids & superstructures;
  • Develop in-situ & ex-situ characterization methods, for monitoring the reaction mechanisms & analyising the structures, the stablitiy as well as the intrinsic optical, electronic, catalytic, magnetic, mechanical & transport properties of 2DMs;
  • Achieve understanding on the 2DM's formation & structure-property relationship with the support of advanced theoretical modelling methods.
